Enfant Terrible web gallery Kelly Correll Brown - Something old and something new... Kelly Correll Brown - Painting / Drawing
/ Craft She is currently living in Oakland, USA. Next to her visual
art she is a singer with Black Ice and has been active as keyboardist and
singer with Red Voice Choir. Earlier this year an artifact consisting of a printed
work by Kelly Correll Brown and a Black Ice 7” was realized in collaboration
with Enfant Terrible. Something old and something new… Something old and something new… is a small online exhibition
of the work of Kelly Correll Brown based on a selection made by Enfant Terrible
for this specific occasion. Kelly Correll Brown works with many different materials and
in a variety of techniques. Because of her background in painting and drawing,
textiles, and fashion she is able to incorporate elements of all of these techniques
into the process of creation. She is mostly working on various piece at the same
time. That gives her the freedom to begin to build stories that can flow
circularly rather than linearly. Her work reflects a belief in the powers of whimsy, absence,
fear, silence, and an ever-evolving story. In this online exhibition are six pieces dating from 2005 to
2010. The two oldest pieces Building-Gun (2005) and Lost without you (2007) reflects in some way
the work of abstract expressionist Franz Kline. His black and white paitings from
the 1950’s era spring to mind. The oil
painting Self Portrait on the Floor (2008) and the ink and graphite piece Tranny
(2008) are less abstract as the two earlier works. Both have more detail and
clear definable subjects. Both works from 2010
displayed here are in a very different style. Instead of using
traditional paiting and drawing techniques these pieces are created as a
product of craftsmanship. Craftmanship is not fine but Germany...oh how I miss
you (2010) and View from the Window (2010) are both pieces of collage art
playing with the look, feel and definition of craftsmanship and fine art. This small selection should work as an introduction and
appetizer to the work and world of Kelly Correll Brown. Please enjoy these
pieces. These works are for sale. If interested please contact
Enfant Terrible here… Click on the small pictures below to get a new frame with a bigger photo of the pieces of work. ![]()
