Pseudocode - Europa (EE Tapes)
What is there to say about this release except it is a must have and one of the few true classics from the 1980's?! Pseudocode was a project by Alain Neffe (also known from Bene Gesserit) and a band with a sound and style of its own. Adventurous music for people with a good taste in music... so they never reached a broad audience of course. This is radical pop music and first wave industrial music. If you like the "pop" side of Throbbing Gistle ("20 Jazz Funk Greats") and/or are into stuff like Kaa Antilope (check the mini LP on Enfant Terrible... last copies in stock) and Bene Gesserit you know what it is and you know you cannot miss out on this one. The original vinyl is very expensive. This cd will probably be too in the near future. Next to the album you also get the first and second EP tracks on this disc. A must have!!!

Volume 4 in the compilation series with 80's wave/elektro/synth music on the Brazil based label Wave Propaganda. This time they come up with a mix of names that should appeal to any new wave fan. The cd features tracks by And Also The Trees, Ensemble Pittoresque, Malaria, The Actor, Stahlnetz, Die Form and Design among others. Truly a nice collection of artists and tracks!

Various Artists - Neonbeats: Austrian New Wave And Postpunk (Klanggalerie)
After various compilations centered around minimal synth music from a specific country there is now this more then extensive compilation with strictly Austrian sounds in the new wave and postpunk styles. Klanggalerie of course already released some Asutrian (80's) music so this is no real surprise. Also they show they know what they are talking about. With 37 tracks (!!) on 2 CD's this is a true document. Next to the archive old tunes (by the likes of ZYX, Rassemenschen helfe armen Menschen and many bands I never heard of before) there are also a few contemporary bands added that work in this music tradition. A feast for any fan of the genre and I am sure there are bands to discover here even for the real freaks and collectors...

Orduc - Iron Jubilee (New Bulwark Records & Tapes / Motok)
Another nice little record by Orduc. This time a compilation with some very old track (1979-1983). Some of the track were released on the 'Pink&Purple' LP but others are more obscure and taken from cassette releases. Orduc is presented in its true form here: from the weird pop to the experimental sounds... it is all here. We have all the limited edition records in stock: 15 on grey vinyl (Weathered Iron Vinyl) and 25 on copper color vinyl (Ochre Rust Vinyl). These two special editions are numbered 1-15 and 1-25. So the only chance to get them is now and here!

Another great release from one of my favorite labels. Record after record NLW bring excellent weird little gems into the world on the Schallplatten Aus Lurup sublabel. This time a document on the German cassette culture of the late 1970's and early 1980's. Featured amongst others are bands like 4712 and Reinheits des Herzens, which are both know from the Kassettentäter bootleg vinyls. A must have for all historians among us!

Umpire - Another Substance Called (NLW/Suboptimal Records)
And yet another NLW sublabel. On cd they bring you a compilation of the German elektro-wave band Umpire. Around 1990 they released some tapes and tracks on compilations. This is rather poppy and melodic stuff. So if you like Camouflage, Alphaville and New Order but then maybe just more obscure and less produced you should check this out. Nice tunes fro spring I would say!

Another compilation with some obscure 80's tracks?! Yes, but this one is much more interesting as the recently commercial compilations that saw the light. Also this release was supposed to come out about 2 years ago so before the real hype started. The best thing about this compilation is that it features only a few hits and many songs and artists to discover... even for the fans and well informed. Featured are amongst others Cinema 90, Urge, Dr. Numa, Mecano, Ciaran Harte, Hysteria Passio, Sieg Uber Die Sonne, Alive She Died, Seppuku and Jessica Denton & Patrik Fitzgerald. A total of 15 tracks and not a weak moment... excellent!

Stephan Eicher - Stephan Eicher Spielt Noise Boys (Born Bad Records)
Of course Stephan Eicher is known as a member of Grauzone but fewer know his solo work I guess... although the 'Stephan Eicher Spielt Noise Boys' 7 inch from 1980 is quite a collector's item. This 7 inch featured five excellent playful lo-fi (recorded on a dictaphone!) minimal electronic / new wave tracks with a rather rock 'n roll twist from time to time. A bit like Suicide maybe but also more synth pop in a way. These are tracks to slamdance on or twist on... what ever you prefer. On this re-issue there are seven tracks so two tunes from the same period have been added for some extra fun. One of them being 'Hungriges Afrika' which some enthousiasts of this type of music will already know. Simple an excellent and above all fun record!!

After the ultra limited 7 inch 'Auto' (see below) Orduc came up with this great new album. About half of the tracks on this record are from 1980/1981 but were finished more recently. The style is still typical Orduc: weird pop, minimalistic electronics and soundscapes. If you like the cult album 'Pink & Purple' from 1981 (which is also available here, see below) this new record will please you for sure.

El Aviador Dro - Alas Sobre El Mundo (PIAS Spain)
This band needs no introduction... I hope... simply one of the best elektro pop / synth music outfits of the 1980's and for sure the best thing to come from Spain from that era in this type of music. Only on itself this group deserves all the credits there are for making daring music that has stand the test of time. Besides that other groups like Esplendor Geometrico and Los Iniciados are related with musician from El Aviador Dro... stating only more the cultural importance of their work.
This is a re-issue of their first album and includes bonus track from the Nuclear, Si 7 inch and the Programa En Espiral 12 inch. Well... what would you want more? Simply a collection of some of the best synth / weird pop tunes ever made!!

RBE (Raudive Bunker Experiment) - Falling / The Message Is Received (You Don't Have To Call This Music)
80's electronics/industrial project by a member of Bourbonese Qualk. On this 7" are two excellent tracks that can compete with some early Cabaret Voltaire stuff (think 'Mix-Up' era). Rather melodic for industrial but too experimental and industrial in structure and texture to be pop music. But... some minimal synth fans will dig this as well for sure. Highly recommended!!

Poeme Electronique - The Echoes Fade (Anna Logue Records)
Poeme Electronique is one of those bands that had the potenial to become bigger and more well known but never made it. This was not because of their musical skills at all. I even dare to say this was one of the best synth/elektro pop acts from the UK during the early 1980's. They only released one 7" in 1982. But they had much more material ready. These two LP's consists of 16 tracks (the two 7 inch tracks and 14 unreleased pieces) from 1981/1982. The sound is melancholy and at times for the dancefloor and at times more slow. Maybe think of a very new wave type of Kirlian Camera but slightly more poppy. These tracks show the quality of this band and finally more people can hear this now. The records come in a deluxe gatefold packaging. Looks and sounds great!!

Another nice obscurity from the German new wave scene. This band with the much too long name was completely unknown to me before this 7 inch arrived. Like with all releases from the Schallplatten Aus Lurup label this record is ultra limited (only 150 copies) and the sound of the band is lo-fi... very lo-fi. The recordings date from 1989-1991. Also as expected this is not music for the average listener. As with the other releases on this label it is for collector's and die hard fans of the genre only. Nice little record!

Charles Lindbergh n.e.V. - Mal glucken, ob's klappt... (Schallplatten Aus Lurup / NLW)
Another nice little record from Schallplatten Aus Lurup, the side label from NLW. Although these songs were recorded live in 2007 at the Kernkrach Festival they are originally from the 1980's. These live recordings show the great lo-fi electronic DIY attitude of this act. Maybe the singing is out of tune at times but it is simply excellent DaDa synth pop!

Re-issue of 1981 release of this legendary art punk / industrial / avant-garde group. Operating in the same scene as Einstuerzende Neubauten you can hear some similarities but the sound is weirder and much more structured into "pop songs". All original 8 tracks are featured and 4 bonus tracks are added. Simple a classic album and a must have re-issue!

Hailing from Greece The Hands Of Cain never really built a name for themselves outside the local scene in the early 1980's. Their sound is very much in the style of (early) Christian Death, thus post-punk / proto deathrock. For the fans of this genre and for collector's of 80's obscurities this record is a great item for their collection.

Die Kapazität - Leichte Stimmen (NLW)
Excellent new release on NLW. Die Kapazitat were from Hamburg, Germany and were active from 1979 to 1983. This cd re-issue features their full length album and their EP and bonus tracks. Their records and sound is very good mix of electro, Neue Deutsche Welle and Post-Punk elements. Besides that it is simply excellent party music!!

Die Bunker is a cult French new wave band. Their first LP 'Dreams Are Not Free' is a true classic. The Peut-etre qu'il n'y a plus rien? LP is a re-issue of a cassette reelased a few years before the first LP. The biggest part of this cassette consists of live material. These pieces are excellent raw takes and features only material not present on the first LP. For the collector this is a dream coming true!

Chris Lunch & Frieder Butzmann - Oi! Oi! Oi! / Butzmania (Mauerstadtmusik)
Frieder Butzmann is a German cult artist who produced among other the classic 'Waschsalon Berlin' track. Chris Lunch is maybe lesser known but he has been part of Palais Schaumburg. Together they produced these two crazy tracks in 1980. Electronic weirdness as it should be!!

This is the limited repress of this classic industrial album from 1983. Hunting Lodge is known for their cult hit 'Tribal Warning Shot' and as being part of the first industrial scene together with SPK, Lustmord and Laibach. "Will" is a real industrial album with lots of repetitive rhythms, blasting noises, metal sounds, invocative voices and deadly screams. Next to the complete classic album this cd fetaures two tracks from a tape release from 1982 and two demos from 1990 from the last recording session the band did. Simply a must have!
