Hex

From 2003 to 2008 I was involved with a parties series called Hex. These parties started after I had quite my involvement with the Gruis parties in Utrecht. The Hex nights found a home at OCCII in Amsterdam and had a focus in all things new wave and post-punk… from batcave to NDW to minimal electronics and often also beyond…

Many bands had their (Dutch) live debut there… or otherwise did a rare live show: Agent Side Grinder, Frustration, Schwefelgelb, Sixteens, Black Ice, Wermut, Echo West, Solitude FX, Hval Mus, It&My Computer, Cheveu, SaraLunden, Vanishing, Swann Danger, and so on…

Hex was quite legendary these days… people from Belgium, Germany and France came over just for the nights…  and still nowadays I sometimes come across people who still remember these parties…

Recently some footage popped up on Youtube so I ripped it for my private archive… but I also put it online on my Youtube channel and posted it below… just for old times sake and for melancholy moments when it seems that all good things lie in the past…

Gifgrond (again) – saturday 18th November

This January we kicked off the year with a party at Gifgrond… and now we return to this awesome spot in Tilburg (NL) to sort of close the year…

The line-up features Staatseinde and Garçon Taupe… both Dutch projects that recently released records on Enfant Terrible… so I consider this a delayed release party for these acts…

Staatseinde will bring their elektro pop live in stage and Garçon Taupe will perform live his acid trax…

Next to that TWINS from the USA will kick off his first European tour that night… his latest album from last year (Rather Not, Enfant Terrible 2016) got great feedback due to the original blending of styles like elektro, EBM, new wave, post-punk and more… A new 7″ is planned for the first part of 2018… also on Enfant Terrible…

Throughout the night I will spin records… and hopefully there will be some dancers / clubbers to close to night with…

Ramplingg + homemade vinyls

Ramplingg is the solo project by Sara from Diverting Duo… this solo endeavour is a bit darker as her collaboration project… more dark wave and new wave minded and less synth pop / indie pop in mood and style… These five tracks take you on a dark trip for sure!

This debut is a super nice CD which comes in a LP style cardboard inner and outer sleeve. It is released in collaboration between Tiny Speaker ad Etch Wear. There is also a super limited 10″ version featuring one track from the CD and a remix… This vinyl is handcut / homemade at Etch Wear HQ in Norway… and is part of the recent explorations by Etch Wear in homemade vinyls… super cool and more DIY is not possible…

Below one of the tracks from the Rampling CD… and the CD is also available from the ET webshop…

dj M at Gifgrond

A few weeks ago I had a great time at Gifgrond… the Gifgrond ladies invited me again to curate a night at their wonderful venue and event… here is a report in Dutch by VPRO 3voor12

I already wrote a bit about lately… now I also posted my dj set online I did after the live acts for the dance part of the event… it is a dj set of about 2 hours with loads of 80’s and also some more contemporary stuff… think in the likes of elektro-wave, synth-pop, minimal electronics and so on… long time since I did a dj set with these tunes… years and years ago, mostly during the Hex nights way back… and also did I not play for the dance floor since some time… it was great fun and there was an enthusiastic audience which made it extra nice to play these songs… enjoy!

Out now!

ET_heartOut now are the three new releases on Enfant Terrible/Gooiland Elektro: the TWINS mini album, the Zarkoff & Ikonal EP and the Antlers Mulm 7 inch.

All three releases are synth driven but rather different in style… from post-punk influenced elektro (TWINS) to acid with a touch of EBM (Zarkoff & Ikonal) to melancholy synth pop (Antlers Mulm).

Full track previews are online on the ET soundcloud page… and the records are for sale at the ET webshop and at selected (web)stores around the globe…
