Vrystaete news

I often forget to post news here… but I am happy to announce a new LP coming up this autumn by lo-fi electronic outfit Girotuna… I myself consider this a lost gem of Dutch DIY culture… the test pressing is on high rotation here… artwork is being printed soon… so all ready to go…

You can pre-listen the album here…

Pre-orders are not open yet…  but will be soon…

20 years of ET

Enfant Terrible is active for 20 years this year… the first record was released in 2004… I am not planning much for celebrations but I want to make some highlights and overlooked records available in a new way to both the old collectors and new followers… So I will start an ET bandcamp page soon… and through this page I will do special small editions of sold out records with different (hand printed) artwork… the records will also be available in digital format through this BC page… The first two are planned… and I will screen print the special editions at Kapitaal Utrecht with whom I share quite some history around ET… I am not telling yet which two records will be the first ones… just keep your eyes out on this newsletter for that… but really small editions (11 and 20 in this case)… so you do not want to be late for these…

In the meantime two new releases on Vrystaete (|grens| and Mushroom Patience) and on Freedom Club (ЯTRA and The Untitled) are out and available…

Back to the roots

At the pressing plant is the “Orion” 12″ EP by French band Cérémonie… I consider this a sort of back to the roots release for Enfant Terrible… the past few years I did not release much 80’s inspired and/or influenced music… or at least not strictly… this as not much music in that music field is interesting to me… the quality and originality is simply not there most of the time…

Still if you listen to the RADKO LP and some other recent releases on Gooiland Elektro for example you will hear that there is very often something there of these roots in the music I release on my label… whether it is synthpop, new wave, post-punk or post-industrial… there are traces to be found…

Anyway when it comes to rather strict 80’s influenced music Cérémonie is an exception to me… so here we are… realising the debut vinyl of this band!

The record is expected before summer… always depending on what the pressing plant will do… but I have good hopes…

Freedom Club

Coming up early 2023 is a new division of Enfant Terrible called Freedom Club. The focus will be on dark beats and rough sounds… and the format could surprise people who have been following ET for some time… as it will be small editions of cd’s and a digital release on bandcamp for this label…

The cd’s will be packaged in fitting artwork and printed by me of course… as always…

First up will be an EP (5 tracks) by Nihilist Sounds entitled “Ritual EP”… expect some hardcore techno with acid and industrial sounds to spice things up… At the same time there well be the “Twilight EP” (6 tracks) by Auva Duhr (new project by Neugeborene Nachtmusik) packed with (post-) rave sounds with references to elektro, idm and techno…

A preview of the artwork is posted on the ET homepage…

Out now and next up…

The new records by RADKO and Melting Dogmas/Roberto Auser are out now… and I am  already working hard on the next releases… one will be a melancholy new wave inspired synth pop record…  more on that soon…

Next to that I am preparing two releases on a new series/sublabel called Freedom Club.  This will be a new entity in the Enfant Terrible universe… sounds dedicated to (post)rave music… sort of Gooiland Elektro minded but I guess rougher and more strict focussed on beats for (illegal) raves and/or intense workouts… First up will be one EP by Nihilist Sounds and an EP by Auva Duhr (a Neugeborene Nachtmusik project)…

Soon more on this… including a website/online homebase  for this series/sublabel…

Finally…

Finally the IYv LP and the Teahouse Radio 2LP are ready… it took me quite some time… the pressing plant did deliver in time (!) but the finalising of the records was a thingy…

People familiar with the Vrystaete releases know that there is a lot of manual work involved from my side… that is why I am not a big fan of releasing two records in this series at the same time… but well… pressing plant situations leave me no choice basically… but this time it involved also a double LP… as the Teahouse Radio asked for a 2LP release…

Anyway… I am still finishing some last records with applying stamps but most is done so I can start preparing packages and shipping these out… and I am very grateful to all people who pre-ordered these… quite a lot of you did so… meaning the next challenge is trying to ship your records out as soon as possible… and also to the (web)shops as these two albums will also be available through all usual suspects as ever… so thanks to all for your support!

The next two records are at the pressing plant since some weeks… no Vrystaete this time but Gooiland Elektro stuff by the likes of RADKO (finally a full release) and a split 12″ by Roberto Auser and Melting Dogmas (a duo featuring 4Cantons)… I have some other plans and ideas which I will start working on as soon as I have shipped the IYv and Teahouse Radio records out to all of you and to all shops…

So I hope you can enjoy these sounds soon!
