Ocean Floor and Father Murphy

Recently I added the absolute great releases by Belgian label B.A.A.D.M. to the webshop… especially the Frederik Croene record is one I simply love… it is a piece of dark and haunting organ music…

oceanfloor_cvrIn that vein I have some other records waiting to go online… one of them is by Ocean Floor… a project from Bristol… the “Jupiter” album was released on tape first and is now available on vinyl… the music on the album is lighter and less dark as the Frederik Croene… mostly due to fact no church organ was used but an harmonium… which is a small chamber size organ… “Jupiter” is a blending of electronic and the sound of the harmonium… resulting in spacious sound tapestries… it is psychedelic and trippy in the same way as the krautrock/kosmische scene music by (early) Tangerine Dream… and yes the  influence of this legendary band is very clear… but still “Jupiter” is an amazing album…

Next to that I have some copies of the new 10″ by Father Murphy… an Italian band which has been making music for over a decade… and I must admit that I only came across them recently on the “Nostra Signora delle Tenebre” compilation by Backwards… on which their piece was one of the highlights…

fathermurphy_cvrNow there is this new 10″… with music which is reminiscent of early Coil in some way… mixed with some elements of Duhkha/Bex… so expect some post-industrial music hinting at various styles and genres… dark occult psychedelic stuff… quite unique… and both tracks are a true listening experience…

Here is one piece by Ocean Floor…

And here is one of the two pieces from the Father Murphy 10″…

Enfant Terrible releases update

petitNN_cvrExpected at the end of March are some new releases… one from Vrystaete (more on this soon) and two on Enfant Terrible… and more specific one in the Gooiland Elektro and one in Petit Enfant series…

After the album from last year Neugeborene Nachtmusik is back with a sweet little 7 inch release with two minimal synth pieces… dancefloor friendly but with a twist… different as you might know Neugeborene Nachtmusik but also very much part of his identity…

Here is one track from the 7 inch…

ET044Next to that there will be a new Gooiland Elektro compilation… in a way this one takes off where we left you with the “Club Funny Horse” compilation… but it is also very much in line with the Gooiland Elektro MKII focus… so expect EBM, dark techno and industrial acid inspired tracks… this full length compilation album features infamous co-conspirators from around the globe: LCN (aka Le Chocolat Noir), Monocorpse, Profligate, Osty (FOQL/Marburg project), Neugeborene Nachtmusik and Future Blondes…

This is the full Monocorpse track…

Updates/news will follow when the time is there…

most rpm 2015

Nico_MarbleIndexThere are always one or two artists each year who get the most plays here at ET HQ… last year this was for sure Nico with Ben Frost as runner-up…

Nico… well what is there to say except that you need to experience her music by submerging yourself in her simply unique and outstanding music… “The End” has for years been a record returning on my record player… last year both “The Marble Index” (1968) and “Desertshore” (1970) found its ways (again) into my life…

benfrost_auroraNext to Nico I have been playing a lot of Ben Frost music… I think mostly “Aurora” (2014) but also some of his other works… in an age where it is hard to come up with original music Ben Frost stands apart… album after album his sound evolves (and sometimes changes a bit) and becomes more intense, more complex and more daring… “Aurora” really gripped me this year with its perfect mix between ambient, industrial, idm and noise… I am very curious what this musician will serve us next… hopefully something new is come this year…
