Vrystaete news

I often forget to post news here… but I am happy to announce a new LP coming up this autumn by lo-fi electronic outfit Girotuna… I myself consider this a lost gem of Dutch DIY culture… the test pressing is on high rotation here… artwork is being printed soon… so all ready to go…

You can pre-listen the album here…

Pre-orders are not open yet…  but will be soon…

Out now: 2 x new Vrystaete

It took me some time but the two new Vrystaete releases are ready and will be on there way to people and (web)shops from later this week onwards…

So both Lend Me Your Underbelly and Ô Paradis can be enjoyed during your Xmas dinner…

I always miscalculate the amount of time needed to complete the Vrystaete records… next to printing the artwork and the info sheet there is the numbering of the artwork and the applying of stamps on the record labels (4 on each record) and on the info sheet (1 on each info sheet)… then there is the assembling of it all… so well… if I would include my hours spend on this in the price of the records they would become too expensive to sell…

So… think about that when you have in your hands sooner or later… these records are quite priceless… 😉 And… I saw in Discogs lately that at least one is already a real collector piece but I am quite sure a few more will become that too shortly… most titles are sold out or low in stock at most places…

Ramplingg + homemade vinyls

Ramplingg is the solo project by Sara from Diverting Duo… this solo endeavour is a bit darker as her collaboration project… more dark wave and new wave minded and less synth pop / indie pop in mood and style… These five tracks take you on a dark trip for sure!

This debut is a super nice CD which comes in a LP style cardboard inner and outer sleeve. It is released in collaboration between Tiny Speaker ad Etch Wear. There is also a super limited 10″ version featuring one track from the CD and a remix… This vinyl is handcut / homemade at Etch Wear HQ in Norway… and is part of the recent explorations by Etch Wear in homemade vinyls… super cool and more DIY is not possible…

Below one of the tracks from the Rampling CD… and the CD is also available from the ET webshop…

Savage Grounds sleeve

Today I did test prints for the sleeve of the upcoming Savage Grounds record… I did a test print as it was paper I never worked with and as I wanted to check out the two variations of the design…

The paper I picked is glossy gold paper… very smooth so only suitable for modern day printers and printing techniques… the end result of the tests are quite promising… so I will print the final sleeves soon… most likely next week…

Below is a photo of the test prints…

Brannten Schnüre

The printing work for the Brannten Schnüre record in the Vrystaete series is nearing completion… but it is definitely more work as expected and the most labor-intensive record I ever did until now… I would not even start to calculate what this record would really cost if I would sell it for a reasonable price related to all the hours put in it…

BUT… it is absolute nice to see how great the result is… and that is the only thing that counts: how it turns out in the end…

Shipping of the private pre-orders and to shops will start next week… and you can also still order the record directly through me

80’s tunes

I updated the webshop with two re-issues of obscure 80’s stuff… one is the Neue Krankenscheine 7″… which was originally released on tape in 1984… this one for fans of the classic sounds (pre-sets) of the Casio VL-Tone… and rather punk and DIY… below is one of the crazy tracks from this record…

Even more happy I am with the record by Schatten Unter Eis… in 2006 there was a vinyl on the legendary WSDP label… and now there is another vinyl release… 99% based on the tape released back in 1983… this band is also very much in the punk/DIY tradition… also lo-fi and also playful… below is a track not from the recently released album but from the one which came out in 2006… but this one is such a classic!

You can find both records in my webshop here…
