dj M. – Lesson#68

The latest dj set/mixtape I did for Radio Resistencia (October 2016 episode) is on mixcloud now for on demand playback/streaming… this mix is quite a long one… almost 1,5 hours… all ambient stuff… dark ambient sounds, drones, post-industrial music and pieces influenced by ritual music and occultism… featured are amongst other Nacht, Nature Morte, His Divince Grace, Raison d’être, Morthound, Apoptose, Herbst9 and more… much more…

Trapper [drone orchestra] live at Radio Resistencia

trapperdroneorchestraThis week on thursday (19th of May) there is another recording session of Radio Resistencia at Kapitaal in Utrecht. As always doors open at 20.00 hour and close again at 23.00 hour…

Live performing  will be the Dutch ensemble Trapper [drone orchestra]… as the name suggests this collection of musicians serve you drones… slow soundscapes built around electronics and instruments as a cello and a hurry gurdy… and sometimes with a bicycle…

Here is a short promo video of the ensemble… just to get an impression

And here is a piece / live recording… just to get into the mood…

Vrystaete update

Vry05_V1Next to the already announced Gooiland Elektro compilation and the Neugeborene Nachtmusik 7 inch a new Vrystaete release is in production…

This 5th release on Vrystaete is by Neurobit… a name not unknown to people who follow ET activities… Neurobit has been present on ET ever since the “Kamp Holland” compilation LP… the same musician also operates under the alias of Former Descent… also know from various appearances on ET…

Anyway Neurobit is back… while his previous Petit Enfant 7 inch was rather electronic orientated minimal music… a bit reminiscent of Terry Riley in a way… sort of chip tune drones… this new record is much more organic sounding… tranquil and relaxed ambient/drone sort of music… invoking temple and rainforest like atmospheres… and more Philip Glass and Steve Reich like as Riley… to stick to references in the minimal music world…

The record is expected at the end of March and will come with a nice art print…

Here is a full track preview…

Morc

anneliesmonsereSome years ago I came across the music of Annelies Monseré due to a collaboration she did with In Gowan Ring/Birchbook… although it was on  my want list since then I never bought a record of her until recently… not sure why now but most likely as I am listening to quite some tranquil and folklore inspired tunes lately…

I ordered her 10″ vinyl EP entitled “Nest” directly from the label… being Morc Records from Belgium… a label specialised in small limited edition vinyls, tapes and cd’s… only vinyls lately… the sounds they put out are mostly drones, ambient and folklore inspired stuff… or all of that in the mix…

Label boss Wim Lecluyse is a musician himself too and releases under the alias of Circle Bros… his album “Haven” is really something to check out if you are into ambient and drone like music with a lo-fi touch… next to electronics he puts in some guitars and vague vocals… resulting in soundscapes to dream away on for sure…

With 70 releases up to now there is lots of music to discover for fans of this kind of stuff… if you are not familiar at all here is one track of Annelies Monseré to start out with… sort of Nico inspired in one way or another this one…
