Onmens

onmensLPOnmens is quite a new outfit from Belgium… last year they released two albums… of which one, entitled “Witruimte”, is also available on vinyl…

This duo is armed with electronics, electric guitar and voice/screams… sort of the same line-up as legendary Belgian EBM pioneers The Neon Judgement… Onmens is maybe a bit weirder and with more of a punk punch to it… although of course the first stuff from The Neon Judgement was also rather punk influenced… so yes… Onmens could be seen as working in the tradition of this influential 80’s band…

The electronic beats of Onmens are rough and in your face and the vocals are mostly delivered in screams… but the ten songs on the “Witruimte” are still quite diverse… from uptempo tunes to more weird and a bit vague and trippy pieces… both in sound and in madness the band reminds me at times of PIA fRAUS… of which Embers (see their “Kout EP” on ET) is an offspring…

Also the band shares instruments/line-up, sound and attitude with the Dutch duo Aux Raus (now defunct)… but Onmens is Belgian and Aux Raus was Dutch… so expect industrial/EBM/weird influences instead of hardcore gabber stuff in the sound of Onmens…

I recommend to keep an eye out for Onmens… both for new material as for live shows… promising stuff for the future! And… I have a few copies of the “Witruimte” vinyl LP in the webshop

And… here is video/track from the album… enjoy!

Mailorder update: Codex Empire and Blush Response

Both Codex Empire and Blush Response deliver a new 4 track 12″ EP on the Berlin based label Aufnahme + Wiedergabe… both projects are exponents of the current techno scene which blends dark goth inspired sounds from the 90’s and EBM rhythms with contemporary industrial techno music…

While Codex Empire is more into 90’s goth/darkwave when it comes to lending elements Blush Response seems to more focussed on (harsh) EBM… still both new EP’s will also interest fans of industrial music and especially those into rhythmic noise… think Ant-Zen style…

Both records can be ordered by through the ET mailorder or the ET discogs webshop… I only have a few copies of each… so be quick or be sorry…

Below you can listen to a full track of each release…

Future Classic… ?

gooiland_boxedIn December 2013 I released the second Gooiland Elektro compilation entitled “Club Funny Horse“… this compilation features Cute Heels, Drug Culture, Ekman and Marburg (now active as part of FOQL and Osty)… a compilation built around some hard hitting dark techno stuff deeply rooted in EBM and New Beat…

Like many ET records this record went quite slowly in the beginning… but the demand continued on the same level… and it is only quiet recently the demand for this one is growing and growing… I have the feeling most people only value this release now… which happens to more of the ET release… they prove (more) relevant over some time… or maybe they are a bit ahead of their time mostly…

So last week I opened the last box and I am shipping some copies now… and some more are ordered to be shipped with the upcoming new releases… so get it quick (as somebody commented on this release on Discogs)…

By the way… the new upcoming Gooiland Elektro compilation “Noblesse Oblige” takes off where “Club Funny Horse” ended… and moves onwards…

Here is the Cute Heels track from “Club Funny Horse”…

dj M. – Lesson#62

A new mixtape / dj set is online on my mixcloud… this time a rather pounding mix with some new and older Gooiland Elektro stuff as well as some records released by Aufnahme + Wiedergabe and some other techno, EBM, industrial and related sounds… and yes there is a fuck up in there in the mix… but this only makes it real… for me at least… I only play vinyls  and record these mixes in one take… so things like this happen from time to time… enjoy!

Enfant Terrible releases update

petitNN_cvrExpected at the end of March are some new releases… one from Vrystaete (more on this soon) and two on Enfant Terrible… and more specific one in the Gooiland Elektro and one in Petit Enfant series…

After the album from last year Neugeborene Nachtmusik is back with a sweet little 7 inch release with two minimal synth pieces… dancefloor friendly but with a twist… different as you might know Neugeborene Nachtmusik but also very much part of his identity…

Here is one track from the 7 inch…

ET044Next to that there will be a new Gooiland Elektro compilation… in a way this one takes off where we left you with the “Club Funny Horse” compilation… but it is also very much in line with the Gooiland Elektro MKII focus… so expect EBM, dark techno and industrial acid inspired tracks… this full length compilation album features infamous co-conspirators from around the globe: LCN (aka Le Chocolat Noir), Monocorpse, Profligate, Osty (FOQL/Marburg project), Neugeborene Nachtmusik and Future Blondes…

This is the full Monocorpse track…

Updates/news will follow when the time is there…

early techno mix

On my mixcloud page I posted a dj set which I recorded a few years ago… it is a mix of early/proto techno… with music from Belgium, Germany and Spain from the late 1980’s and early 1990’s… so EBM and New Beat in different flavours… there is also one Gooiland Elektro track in it but all the rest is from the old days… enjoy!
