Gifgrond…

Roberto Auser

I had a great time last saturday at Gifgrond… as always everything was just perfectly organised and the ambiance was perfect as well… all three live acts were excellent… for Onont Kombar it was just the second live show ever… and it was much more powerful as the first one… Embers proved live even more style defying as on their records… a sort of Flemish post-industrial reply to Die Antwoord… and last but not least Roberto Auser showed once again how well skilled he is in performing live with a modular synth…

Embers

Also the audience stayed this time to dance to the 80’s sound and contemporary electronic tunes like we used to play at the Hex nights in OCCII/Amsterdam… and it was cool playing these tunes again… long time ago I did this…

These photos are by Frank Janssens. Thanks to all involved  in making this night one to remember!

Gifgrond invites Enfant Terrible (once again)…

For the third time the Gifgrond ladies invited me to curate a night of music at their absolute great event… hosted at a private location near the city center of Tilburg this is one of the best kept secrets in The Netherlands for discovering off radar music… so save the date: Saturday 14th of January… all infos are also here and here

It is great to start 2017 with this live event for Enfant Terrible… and this will also be recorded as an episode of Radio Resistencia…

Live on stage for the first time in The Netherlands are Belgian post-industrial/post-everything ensemble Embers… next to that Onont Kombar will be performing his minimal electronics live and last but not least Roberto Auser is serving his analogue elektro beats and noises… I will play some tunes before, in between and after the live acts… what a feast!

Here below some sounds to get in the mood:

Onmens

onmensLPOnmens is quite a new outfit from Belgium… last year they released two albums… of which one, entitled “Witruimte”, is also available on vinyl…

This duo is armed with electronics, electric guitar and voice/screams… sort of the same line-up as legendary Belgian EBM pioneers The Neon Judgement… Onmens is maybe a bit weirder and with more of a punk punch to it… although of course the first stuff from The Neon Judgement was also rather punk influenced… so yes… Onmens could be seen as working in the tradition of this influential 80’s band…

The electronic beats of Onmens are rough and in your face and the vocals are mostly delivered in screams… but the ten songs on the “Witruimte” are still quite diverse… from uptempo tunes to more weird and a bit vague and trippy pieces… both in sound and in madness the band reminds me at times of PIA fRAUS… of which Embers (see their “Kout EP” on ET) is an offspring…

Also the band shares instruments/line-up, sound and attitude with the Dutch duo Aux Raus (now defunct)… but Onmens is Belgian and Aux Raus was Dutch… so expect industrial/EBM/weird influences instead of hardcore gabber stuff in the sound of Onmens…

I recommend to keep an eye out for Onmens… both for new material as for live shows… promising stuff for the future! And… I have a few copies of the “Witruimte” vinyl LP in the webshop

And… here is video/track from the album… enjoy!

A week in images

Several things went on the past few days… so here is a short update on all of
that…

Last sunday Diamantener Oberhof performed live at Radio Resistencia… it was the first ever concert by this German Dada folklore duo… the session will be narrowcasted on Intergalactic FM on IFM1 on Monday 4th of May from 22.00 CET onwards… here is picture of their performance… DO_live_Kapitaal_april2015

Next to that the albums by Neugeborene Nachtmusik and Tobias Bernstrup were released… I am still in the middle of shipping them around… but they are starting to arrive at shops and private orders already… here is teaser/promo video for the release…

Embers did get great feedback on their mini album but had some personnel changes which prevented them to perform live the last couple of months… but they are back! They have two different live line-up’s now… one as a duo with the electronic sound as on the record and one with an additional live drummer and an acoustic oriented sound…. they did a try-out concert with this new line-up at my favourite Belgium record shop Wool-E-shop… see here and listen here how this looks and sounds…

And… even though the new records still have to shipped partly I am already busy with getting the next records to the pressing plant… one of these will be a 12″ by Dutch dark/occult techno project Monocorpse… here is a video of one of the tracks featured on this 12″…
