Kalabalik

We are almost heading  our way to Sweden for the Kalabalik pa Tyrolen Festival. This is a yearly meeting for all things synth/wave/post-punk. Their focus is on contemporary music instead of the many festivals and parties out there who tend to pay more attention to bands from the past… so Kalabalik is really fitting the ET focus when it comes to that.

Also they have an open mind and attitude when it comes to these styles/genres… another thing we have in common. Through the years quite some artists who have appeared on ET performed already at Kalabalik… so I am really happy to head over there now myself for a label showcase with 6 live acts and me and Alacidus with our record bags…  and of course I am eagerly looking forward to experience this festival with all the other great live acts…

Gifgrond – saturday 28th of April

This Saturday (28th of April) it is Gifgrond time again… my most favourite location / party in Holland… Europ Europ needed to cancel unfortunately but Monocorpse will replace them to shake things up with his dark beats… next to that Soft As Snow will present their contemporary new wave / shoegaze music and Hexenschuss will bring their arty post-punk live to stage…

I will spin some records before, in between and after the bands… and if people like to dance maybe even to late…

Berlin

This week I am in Berlin again… on Thursday the 19th of April me and Andy Dufter and dj Alacidus from the ET / Radio Resistencia crew will spin some  records… live on stage you can catch Europ Europ (special mini set) and Soft As Snow…

When the doors open Andy Dufter will play some experimental music. In between the live acts I will spin some industrial tunes and after the live shows me and Alacidus will play dark beats for people to drink and dance to…

All of this will be at ACUD Macht Neu… starting at 20.00 hour.

out real soon: Zosima, Europ Europ & Ian Martin

Out real soon will be the next three releases: Zosima, Europ Europ and Ian Martin… the printing process of the artwork took me a little more time as expected… but all is ready now…

The Ian Martin comes in the “regular” screen printed Gooiland Elektro sleeve… for the Zosima and Europ Europ see the photos in this post… also for the Europ Europ I did a special edition… well two to be honest… one with gold ink on white paper and one with gold ink on black paper… the last one come out really cool… the gold went sort of greenish… see for these also the photos in this post…

These special editions come in real small quantities… the gold on white in only 9 copies and the gold on black in only 16 copies… the regular edition (black on white printed) comes in an edition of 190 copies… catch them while you can!

Europ Europ taped

eewaaahawadRecently two tapes found its way to my cassette player… one a split tape from one of my favourite labels out there… Etch Wear… run by one of the Europ Europ musicians… the other one a tape by Den Nya Borgen on the label from blog Repartiseraren blog

The split tape on Etch Wear features Europ Europ and We Are All Alone Here And We Are Dead (WAAAHAWAD) and is all kinds of awesome… Europ Europ delivers primitive electronic rhythms and lo-fi noises and sounds which all built up in trippy way… truly trance indulging…

WAAAHAWAD on the B-side serves two long tracks of improvised electronics… they have created soundscapes which are at times haunting but at other times are playful… rather psychedelic but not in a way you will often come across…

The other tape by Den Nya Borgen came to me as two remixes are featured on the tape by Enfant Terrible bands… Europ Europ and Neugeborene Nachtmusik… Den Nya Borgen is a new band and this tape is their debut… it is a thematic piece centred around Jeanne d’Arc… three variations on the same theme are delivered but done in a very different way… from a post-punk influenced noise track to a more sci-fi noisy soundscape and finishing with a bit more melodic piece…

The B-side consists of remixes of which the Europ Europ and Neugeborene Nachtmusik are standing out… but also the Michael Idehall and the Ascetic: remixes are superb… but to be honest all six remixes are… the B-side is my absolute favourite of this tape… it is more diverse as the A-side and has more depth in sounds and is more melodic orientated without forgetting to pay tribute the minimal noise side of the original pieces on the A-side…

Below is the Europ Europ remix and below that is a Europ Europ track from the split tape with WAAAHAWAD…
