Perfect vs. imperfect

monogram-mvg-web-450px

Even though I go for perfection this does not mean my idea of perfection is the same as for all people… since a very long time I cherish the imperfect… something flawless is often without a soul to me… a little imperfection is what makes a record perfect from my point of view… so somethings can be perfectly imperfect…

Recently I incorporated two imperfections  for the upcoming Gooiland Elektro compilation “Noblesse Oblige”… first thing was a little glitch in one track… this track was recorded in one take as a jam… so the energy in it is pure and raw… so not to be copied in a new recording session… for this reason I decided to include this version of the track…

Next to that I was working on a stamp for the insert which comes with this record… not a handmade like the Vrystaete stuff but designed on a computer… when the design was sent to the company which I asked to produce the stamp I got a message it was not possible to make a stamp out of the design… it was not clear enough and would become a bit blurry they said… what they meant was that is was not clear like the other designs they get and they did not know what this would mean for the final product… I just told them to continue and I would pay whatever the end result would be… so they did… and when I got the stamp I was just very happy with it… being a bit imperfect as it is…

Some people simply do not understand the charm and (aesthetic) value of things being just not perfect… and some others are uncertain of taking  a little risk with small imperfections in the production process… for me imperfection is what sets something apart from other things… it is what makes a record daring and edgy… and it is simply fun to not know exactly what will be the end result until you hold it in your hands… just perfect!

Enfant Terrible releases update

petitNN_cvrExpected at the end of March are some new releases… one from Vrystaete (more on this soon) and two on Enfant Terrible… and more specific one in the Gooiland Elektro and one in Petit Enfant series…

After the album from last year Neugeborene Nachtmusik is back with a sweet little 7 inch release with two minimal synth pieces… dancefloor friendly but with a twist… different as you might know Neugeborene Nachtmusik but also very much part of his identity…

Here is one track from the 7 inch…

ET044Next to that there will be a new Gooiland Elektro compilation… in a way this one takes off where we left you with the “Club Funny Horse” compilation… but it is also very much in line with the Gooiland Elektro MKII focus… so expect EBM, dark techno and industrial acid inspired tracks… this full length compilation album features infamous co-conspirators from around the globe: LCN (aka Le Chocolat Noir), Monocorpse, Profligate, Osty (FOQL/Marburg project), Neugeborene Nachtmusik and Future Blondes…

This is the full Monocorpse track…

Updates/news will follow when the time is there…

Summer Is Almost Gone

gooiland_MKII_backIt seems summer is almost gone… but it also means I am back on track with all Enfant Terrible activities… and I am very happy to announce that the three delayed Gooiland Elektro records by FOQL, FFFC and Monocorpse are now ready… I will start shipping from monday 24th of August onwards…

The waiting has been worth it as the records look amazing and sound great in my opinion… it means a break with the previous Gooiland Elektro output but in someways it is a continuation too of course… it is for you to find out in what way and such…

You can order the record here…  or from various selected (web)shops soon…

Also I recorded a dj set of about one hour for the French internet radio station Radio S&SR… my set start at 1:01:11 (the first hour is by the resident dj of the radio show)… you can listen to it here… all kinds of old school and new school (post) industrial sounds… sorry for the jingles of the radio station interrupting the trip I prepared for you…

Enjoy the last days of summer!

Printing time again

Gooiland_Elektro_logo_whiteEven though the three new Gooiland Elektro releases by FOQL, Monocorpse and FFFC are delayed it does not mean we are not working on them… so we have started to print the sleeves, and this printing job will be finished next week…

As announced the looks of the Gooiland series have been revised and the sleeves are now hand printed by silk screen printing by myself with the help of the printing chief of Kapitaal

Below a first impression of the front and the backside of the sleeves (click to enlarge)…

Gooiland Elektro at the museum

fkk_coverRunning until the end of October there is an exhibition about selfies at Brandts in Odense, Denmark. This exhibition was curated by Lars Schwander a Danish photographer who in the past worked with The Fall and Moral for example… but who also photographed Björk back in the 1980’s… and who also collaborates with Yoko Ono… just to mention a few thing from his oeuvre…

For this exhibition he selected the photography by Hester Scheurwater used for the “Freikörperkultur” compilation on Gooiland Elektro. Both the original LP cover as a selfie of Hester Scheurwater holding the record (thus holding a photo of herself) are part of the exhibition…

The exhibition extends the topic of the selfie into a broader context of the self portrait… from modern art of the likes of Andy Warhol to cell phone selfies by mainstream pop artists like Lady Gaga…

Patience is a virtue

FOQL_GOOILAND20_webI am sorry to announce that the FOQL, FFFC and Monocorpse Gooiland Elektro releases which were planned to be released at the end of June are delayed till after summer… I expect now to be able to ship at the end of August…

But as you know patience is a virtue and the waiting will be worthwhile for sure… I will be printing the sleeves in the next weeks and will give an (visual) update about that here… and for now you can still listen to the full track previews on the Enfant Terrible soundcloud

So enjoy your summer and see you on the other side!
