Out now: R A D K O, Bebe Fang, Monocorpse and The Untitled

Out now are the latest four releases on Enfant Terrible, Vrystaete and Gooiland Elektro.

On Gooiland Elektro Monocorpse and The Untitled have appeared. Monocorpse already with this third 12″ EP and The Untitled with his debut on Gooiland Elektro/Enfant Terrible. Of course The Untitled has released way more before on his own label and other labels… check out his harsh acid/techno music here…

Monocorpse delivers his finest (in my opinion) EP up till now… a strange mix of soundtrack and dance floor minded stuff… like always dark and moody… you can find all the infos and sound previews here… and check out a video for this record below…

R A D K O from Italo deliver their debut 7″ with two tracks which border new wave, cold wave, shoegaze and even indie music in some ways… there is a video below and all infos are to be found here…

On Vrystaete comes the Bebe Fang LP… a personal favourite of mine… a haunting mix of lo-fi, ambient, folklore, ritual and psychedelic music… something I would like to invite you to explore yourself… get a taste of it here…

Lay Llamas and Benoit Pioulard

The Italian label Backwards is among my favourite labels since they
started to release records in 2012. Control Unit and Wakinyan both delivered great albums that year through the label. Mirt is another personal favourite artist related to Backwards and the Fabrio Orsi album Endless Autumn is equally amazing… too bad it is only available on cd. And… also check out the Father Murphy 10″ while you dig into this…

layllamasAnyway… recently Backwards released some new records which are truly nice… One of them is the re-issue of the first Lay Llamas album… released on 2012 on tape. This album is the perfect record for this summer… trippy and spacey tunes that never over the edge psychedelic… it is quite relaxing music which works well while hiding in the shadows on a hot day… think some sort of Sun Ra Arkestra but not jazzy… if this makes any sense…

The other record is also a sort of re-issue… as the two songs on the Benoit Pioulard 7 inch are basically from 2000-2001. So from even before his debut release. For this new release the tracks are re-recorded. These two tracks are both typical for the artist as well as a great introduction to his work… The A side is dreamy song… a bit in between indie-pop and experimental folk while the B side is an ambient soundscape… very tranquil and soothing… and these two “styles” are basically which Benoit Pioulard works around in his music today…

A few copies of both records are available at the ET webshop… already available at the discogs shop and soon also through the new ET website/webshop…

Here is the B side of the Benoit Pioulard 7 inch…

And here is one piece by Lay Llamas…

Goo morning

SonicYouth_GooEvery morning before going to my job I have about time for one side of a record… often resulting that I play side A from a certain record one morning and the the next morning I continue with the B side… anyway last year the most played record in the morning was Sonic Youth’s “Goo”… an album from 1990 I totally rediscovered last year…

In the past I listened to a lot of Sonic Youth… then for some years a lot less and since two years or so I play their music again quite often… in the past I liked “Confusion Is Sex”, “Sister” and “Dirty” the best… “Goo” never really was among my favorites… maybe as it is a sort of in-between record… in a way it combines the sound of “Daydream Nation”… dreamlike sequences bordering melancholy melodies and noise eruptions… and on the other hand the song based tracks like on “Dirty”… or maybe this is all nonsense as the band has on many album (including “Dirty”) played around with noise, song structures and melodic movements…

“Goo” anyway made a lot of sense to me last year and I played it so many mornings… sometimes the A side and sometimes the B side… but mostly the A side…  And… you need to love the cover… also if you do not like Pop art… Also this record is a good starting point of picking up my renewed interest in Sonic Youth… I stopped following them after “Experimental Jet-Set, Trash And No Star “… so let’s see what is there to explore…
