Summer Is Almost Gone

gooiland_MKII_backIt seems summer is almost gone… but it also means I am back on track with all Enfant Terrible activities… and I am very happy to announce that the three delayed Gooiland Elektro records by FOQL, FFFC and Monocorpse are now ready… I will start shipping from monday 24th of August onwards…

The waiting has been worth it as the records look amazing and sound great in my opinion… it means a break with the previous Gooiland Elektro output but in someways it is a continuation too of course… it is for you to find out in what way and such…

You can order the record here…  or from various selected (web)shops soon…

Also I recorded a dj set of about one hour for the French internet radio station Radio S&SR… my set start at 1:01:11 (the first hour is by the resident dj of the radio show)… you can listen to it here… all kinds of old school and new school (post) industrial sounds… sorry for the jingles of the radio station interrupting the trip I prepared for you…

Enjoy the last days of summer!

Mostly industrial

ETlogo_ruitThe  online magazine The Attic asked me as dj M. to record a dj set for them so accepted the invitation with enthusiasm … and as I am listening to a lot of industrial sounds (again) lately this dj set is one with mostly industrial music… but covering various decades and aspects of the genre…

You can listen to the mix with the tracklisting posted here…

Or you can simply enjoy the sounds here…

Neugeborene Nachtmusik

nn-logo_ISO_12X12Neugeborene Nachtmusik is the brainchild of Soldat Maurizio… he first joined the Enfant Terrible family with his project Milligram Retreat… after that project was destroyed by the other band member involved he continued under this new alias…

Residing in Berlin he continued to shape his music more and more into an unique style of this own… some results of this were displayed already on the various artists releases “Exploitation“, “I Am Enfant Terrible” and “Post-everything“…

Now the time is almost there that his debut album will be poured out over you… this album simple entitled “Neugeborene Nachtmusik” is something highly awaited by me… and I am happy it is in production now…

When it comes to the music it displays the talents of the musician very well… you get served six long tracks with effective minimalism and trance indulging sounds… influences from elektro, industrial, noise and (black) metal can be traced… the album is diverse but coherent in displaying the specific personal style of Neugeborene Nachtmusik…

This album is a pitch black experience… a shamanistic ritual and a dark trip which takes you by the hand and leads you beyond and back…

Here is a full track preview of one of the album tracks with a fan art video… enjoy!

Some Cold Meat…

MZ412Next to buying the Tindersticks ‘Ypres’  album I started this year with also buying two vinyls which were really missing in my collection of old school industrial music: the first Maschinenzimmer 412 album and the first Memorandum album… both on the legendary and now defunct Cold Meat Industry label…

MemorandumWhat I like about old school industrial is that it is not dance music (as a lot of contemporary so called industrial music simply is )… also the production is much more minimal and lo-fi/lo-tech as nowadays… resulting in a rough, raw and thus not so clear sound… the music is loud of course but not due to pumping up the sound in the production and mastering phase…

Mostly it is more about clattering steel as loud (distorted) beats… sometimes rather (arty) punk like with Einstuerzende Neubauten, Throbbing Gristle, Cabaret Voltaire and Test Dept. or more nasty, dark and grim as with Cold Meat Industry and Ant-Zen releases… sometimes the releases on these later can be ritual or military in sound… also like some SPK and Lustmord stuff was…

Anyway I am happy with these two classic Cold Meat Industry records on the turntable here… and a nice detail is that inside the sleeves there are the old inserts and mailorder flyers… and on one it says: “coming in 1990 CMI-09 In Slaughter Natives – LP”… and this never happened! CMI-09 was a Brighter Death Now LP (BDN is of course the project by CMI label boss) and until this day there has been no vinyl album by In Slaughter Natives… which is too bad as I like that project a lot too!
