A week in images

Several things went on the past few days… so here is a short update on all of
that…

Last sunday Diamantener Oberhof performed live at Radio Resistencia… it was the first ever concert by this German Dada folklore duo… the session will be narrowcasted on Intergalactic FM on IFM1 on Monday 4th of May from 22.00 CET onwards… here is picture of their performance… DO_live_Kapitaal_april2015

Next to that the albums by Neugeborene Nachtmusik and Tobias Bernstrup were released… I am still in the middle of shipping them around… but they are starting to arrive at shops and private orders already… here is teaser/promo video for the release…

Embers did get great feedback on their mini album but had some personnel changes which prevented them to perform live the last couple of months… but they are back! They have two different live line-up’s now… one as a duo with the electronic sound as on the record and one with an additional live drummer and an acoustic oriented sound…. they did a try-out concert with this new line-up at my favourite Belgium record shop Wool-E-shop… see here and listen here how this looks and sounds…

And… even though the new records still have to shipped partly I am already busy with getting the next records to the pressing plant… one of these will be a 12″ by Dutch dark/occult techno project Monocorpse… here is a video of one of the tracks featured on this 12″…

For the local people there is an option to get these records already this sunday at Radio Resistencia… just another reason to drop by at Kapitaal in Utrecht for Diamantneer Oberhof live on stage… if you decide to join us and want a copy please drop me note so I can secure a copy for you…

Apoptygma Berzerk

Apop_logoOne of my favourite artists to play in the car is Apoptygma Berzerk… the Norwegian artist who was responsible for taking EBM to another stage during the 1990’s and early 2000’s…

Starting out with a sound heavily inspired by classic EBM Apoptygma Berzerk re-defined the genre for a new generation on the albums ‘Welcome To Earth” and “Harmonizer”… and he even bridged the gap between the dark scene and mainstream dance culture… mostly due to the remix of “Kathy’s Song” by Ferry Corsten…

After “Harmonizer” Apoptygma moved onwards to a more rock orientated sound and I must confess I never really got into that… but last year he released a 12″ with pure electronic music again and his older releases were re-issued on tape (the vinyl versions of the cd’s were re-issued a few years ago)… in interviews he talked about moving again more into electronic music for his next album as well… so I am curious about that…

In the meantime I am super proud to release an exclusive remix Apoptygma did for Tobias Bernstrup… this remix is featured on the upcoming “Romanticism” LP plus 12″ on Gooiland Elektro in collaboration with Tonight Records (Tobias Bernstrup’s own label)…

This remix is a dance track in the true meaning of the word… and a perfect mix of the decadent synth pop sound of Tobias Bernstrup and the “Harmonizer” modern day EBM / future pop period of Apoptygma Berzerk…

Tobias Bernstrup and Tindersticks

Lots of things are being imagined and planned for 2015… but these first few days of the year my focus has been mostly on the new Tobias Bernstrup album which is going to the pressing plant soon. Next to that I am listening to some records old and new…

Tobias_RomanticismTobias Bernstrup… of course a familiar name for those who know my label… his next album is called ‘Romanticism‘ and will come in a vinyl edition (album plus 12 inch) in collaboration with Tobias’s his own Tonight Records. The audio master has been checked and now we are finalising the last few changes to the artwork… so all will be ready for the pressing plant soon…

tindersticks_ypresAlso I ordered the Tindersticks album ‘Ypres’ from last year… one of those records I forgot to order when it came out… this is an album the band did for the World War I museum in Ypres in Belgium. What you get served is beautiful soundscapes… a bit of modern classical music… rather moody (of course I would like to add)… this could also serve as soundtrack to a WOI film for sure… it has the tension and mood fitting perfectly… although military sounds pop up in the background from time to time the music is all about an atmospheric music experience and not at feeding you with explicit military sounds and music as is often done in WOI (and II) inspired “pop music”… but as said… this is more modern classical music as pop music anyway…
