Koffie Leute

Koffie Leute in Utrecht (NL) is a place to drink quality coffee and tea… recently they opened a second space next to the former one… here they also sell vinyls from local labels and bands and serve you a nice lunch…

Tomorrow we will record the Radio Resistencia show there for the first time… this time only the four of us from the radio show crew spinning vinyls… maybe next time also with one or more live acts…

If you are around we will play music for you from 14:00 hour to 18:00 hour…

Video: Monocorpse – Being Reduced To Nothing

This week The Attic magazine / webzine premiered the new Monocorpse video… this is a video for the track “Being Reduced To Nothing” taken from the recently released 12″ vinyl EP ‘The Comfort Of Strangers’… and the second video for this record…

As always the case since the first EP and accompanying video’s Monocorpse himself is responsible for the creation of the video. He works with found footage and sampled images… creating a perfect visual representation of the dark  and suspensive mood articulated by his music…  see below for yourself…

Solid Space

I have to be honest… I never really was into the Solid Space tape album… of course I loved “Tenth Planet” and “A Darkness In My Soul”… these tracks I have been listening for years and years… they are absolute classics in the field of minimal (synth)… but the rest of the album ‘Space Museum’ never really did it for me…

Recently Dark Entries released the tape on vinyl (for the first time officially, so not as bootleg) and of course I wanted to have these two tracks at last on vinyl… this as the two tracks alone make this record worthwhile to have…

But… I have been playing this LP now several times and I quite like most of the other tunes on it as well as it seems… funny how things sometimes can change over time… still “Tenth Planet” and “A Darkness In My Soul” are the absolute highlights of this record but you will hear some other nice songs in case you get this record…

I have a few copies for sale in the webshop…

Ende der Zukunft

IMG_1501Now also the artwork for the Staatseinde 7 inch is printed. As announced before this one was done on a Risograph machine… in three layers (three colours)… I think it looks great… and yes it is different as the design (as presented on the ET website)… but that is just part of the game with printing techniques like this… you never know exactly how it will turn out… it is a bit of luck, a bit of fate and a bit of going with the flow…

If all goes well “Ende der Zukunft” (as the record is entitled) will be delivered at the end of this week and I can start shipping shortly after that…

All three of the records (Staatseinde, Sololust and Europ Europ) are already numbered… I only need to fold the artwork/sleeves and put them in a pvc sleeve… so finally soon soon soon…

Test pressings

testpressingLunch time so a few words on what has kept me busy at Enfant Terrible HQ these last days… I have been silent as I am sending new records to the pressing plant for production and planning and imagining  some future releases…

One of the things I like best about running a label are the moments only I and the musician have the music… nobody else has the music yet… this is an absolute great idea to me… of course at some points in the process more people have the music… like Rude66 who is doing my mastering for vinyl… and the people at the pressing plant to make the records…

Before you get the actual records you always get test pressings (also known as white labels) to check if it all sounds like it was meant to be… on the one hand this is a great moment as only I have the music on vinyl right then… the exclusivity is what I like about this… and also what made me do the super limited give away edition of the last Europ Europ album…

On the other hand it is always a bit stressful… is the record good? Does all sound as it should sound? I am always nervous about faults made in the process… Once you say to the pressing plant the record is okay there is no turning back… but the point is test pressings never really sound 100% the same as the final product… there are some reasons for this… like the machine it is made on (often different from the one used for the final product), the vinyl used for test is not always the same as for final product and due to the small numbers pressed for test pressings the machine might not be on the ideal temperature (yet)… it all depends on how a pressing plant deals with it basically… and you never really know…

Anyway… these days I am enjoying the test pressings of the Diamantener Oberhof and Brunnen albums coming next month… and right now during my normal job I am enjoying yet unreleased tracks by Neugeborene Nachtmusik… just to make you jealous!
